Membership Classifications

As provided under the Articles of Association and it's by-laws, membership is available in several categories, namely regular, affiliate, student and corporate.

Regular membership

Regular membership of the Australian Pain Society is normally open to Health Professionals or Researchers working or interested in the field of Pain Medicine. Regular Members should have a tertiary qualification. Applications will be assessed by the membership sub-committee of the APS.

Affiliate membership

Affiliate membership is open to those individuals who have a real and substantial interest in the objectives of the Society and satisfy such other criteria established in the by-laws. Generally this membership will be for those who do not satisfy the criteria for regular membership and/or may be representing an organisation or company.

Corporate membership

Any company that has a real and substantial interest in the objectives of the Society and satisfies any other criteria established in the by-laws. A company that is a corporate member will be given recognition in the Society's newsletters and official programs and will be able to display at local meetings.

Student membership

Student membership is normally open to bona fide full time undergraduate students over the age of seventeen years whose course will lead to professional qualifications that might lead them to take up regular membership.

Only financial, regular members have the right to vote at ordinary, annual or special meetings of the society, may hold official positions within the society and be able to propose or second any class of new member.
